Real, Live Santa Claus

A while ago, I briefly posted about Louis Pope, the founder of Yehu Microfinance.  He happens to also be the President of US Synthetic, a successful company in Orem that produces high-quality synthetic drill bits.  He is planning to retire in January and move to Kenya to oversee his projects here.

The Deseret News picked up on the story of this incredible man, and his wife Chriss.  Click here for the story.

This man is by far the most generous person that I have ever met.  His son-in-law says that one of Louis's favorite quotes says, "Wealth is a temporary asset, but an eternal liability."  Having done very, very well for himself financially, Louis has embodied the principle of this.  But, apparently, his wealth has only enhanced his ability to give to others.  I've been told that Louis has always been completely concerned about the well-being of others, even without a well-padded bank account.  And that, by itself, is inspiring.

My life is just one of the thousands that has been changed by this real-life Santa Claus.  Louis has certainly raised the bar for me in what it means to truly serve others--heart, substance and soul.

Post Edit:  KSL also did a story on this.  You can view it here.
