Confessions of a Closet Interior Designer

I have to admit something:

Sometimes, when I sit around the office, waiting for Aaron to finish his day (because either a. I'm a really dependent devoted wife or b. I'm just to scared to travel home in the dark by myself), I neglect my Swahili studies.

And what do I neglect my Swahili studies for?

Blog stalking.

Now before you go passing judgment on me and how I choose to waste my time, I have to make another confession:

I stalk blogs of cool people with cool ideas...and even cooler houses.

You see, as much as I'm loving my adventure here in Africa, I think my feminine side is feeling a little neglected.  My attention span has recently fallen subject to the insatiable desire to do something girly and creative.

Something a lot like nesting.

For the past, oh...I don't know...eight (?) years, I've been in transient mode.  Actually, I've been in transient and hording mode.  I've spent all those years carefully stashing away cute little plates, utensils, appliances and gimcrackery for the day when I would have that proverbial place of my own.

And, well, I wasn't married long enough to even begin planning how I was going to get those things out of storage before my knight in shining armor swept me away to some far-off paradise, where we dine nightly off of white Corelle and drink deeply from pink and blue plastic.

Experience?  Adventure?  You bet (it's even more than I bet).

Elegance?  Aesthetics?  Martha Stewart?  Betty Crocker?  Ahem.  Not. so. much.

So.  I get my fancy pants fix vicariously through the stalking of the blogs...and the occasional bout on Kuler.

It was on such a little kick, that I came across Alice Lane--a little beauty of a shop in Utah.  I've never been there, and all I know about it is what I've been told by that one cool person on her blog.  But you better believe that their website makes my nesting glands salivate.  And if that weren't enough, they're having a giveaway--this week.

You can bet your fancy pants that I'm putting my name in the pot--current nest or not.

(Just in case anyone may wonder...there is no blogola on this here blog of mine.  I just postess the things with the mostess.)
