I became a Mother a year ago today.
At least,
I came to the realization of it.
My baby has only seen a quarter of his first year,
But,
I believe that becoming a Mother
Doesn't start at birth.
For there is a moment
That seems to hang gently between time and eternity,
Where,
If a woman waits quietly,
She will feel the light
That is the life she carries deep within.
In that moment there is a joy
More palpable and curious than any other,
That renders her heart subject to greater depths of emotion
Than she ever thought possible.
And she realizes
That, whether she chooses to dim its glow
Or fan it to the most spectacular of flames,
The light will always be a part of her.
And in that moment,
That seems to hang gently between time and eternity,
She has become a Mother.
