Bucking the System

A recent 24-hour period from a day in the life of Zivot Muj:

9:00 pm
Finally got home from 4 hours of shopping, where I fed the wee one dinner while in the shopping cart at Home Depot.

9:45 pm
Put the wee one to bed.

10:00 pm
Went to bed without tidying up the house.

10:30 pm
Intended to fall asleep.

10:30 pm - 1:00 am
Browsed Ann Taylor and LOFT and read about too much sadness in the world until my stomach was sick and my head was spinning like a coral peplum dress.

9:00 am
The wee one awoke and so I decided to finally get out of bed, after hitting snooze for a solid hour.

9:30 am - 6:30 pm
Didn't shower.

Didn't even get dressed until 4:30 pm, so that I could get the mail in decency. . . which I didn't do.

Decided to spontaneously re-arrange my living room and spent the entire day doing it, absconding all other non-parental duties.

Realized that I had been subsisting on pretzels covered in melted cheese and apples for 48 hours.

6:30 pm
Fed the wee one, who subsequently threw everything I gave him on the floor. And then cried because he was hungry. He finally settled on one (1) applesauce pouch and a bowl of yogurt, which he eventually drooled out the corner of his mouth on purpose. And then cried because I wouldn't let him do that.

Finally gave in and let him out of his high chair, suppressing fears of malnutrition.

7:30 pm
Decided I should probably feed myself, as my head was pounding and I was cranky for lack of sleep and proper nutrition.

7:45 pm
Started the bedtime routine.

Ended up re-arranging the wee-one's room.

8:45 pm
Finally got the wee one in bed.

9:00 pm
In bed, house still not very tidy.

A 100% chance of staying up until 1:00 am.

****

The Mr. may or may not have been out of town.

Obviously.

Sounds familiar! Always throws me in for a loop whenever Jonathan is gone. Having a husband to feed and break up your day really anchors you somehow. :)

Sounds all too familiar. Hope he came home quickly. And they eat when they're hungry, right? That's what I've been telling myself for years now and none of them have died from malnutrition yet.
