This little webpage that you may or may not visit is not exactly my personal journal...although some [ahem, Aaron, ahem] may think it is. Believe me, there's a lot that goes through this here brain of mine. I'm pretty sure that I'm not foolish enough to assume that I would still have friends if I shared every minute thought that makes its way through my gray matter.
I like to think that you think I'm sane.
I also like to meta-reason.
But that's another post altogether.
So for boring or for worse, I've cut and pasted a brief compendium of sorts from my email to here. Because someday, I swear, I'm going to write about all this in detail. In my journal.
Right.
(For all intents and purposes, dates are approximate...just a little FYI...if you're detail-oriented like that.)
May 1, 2010 - May 8, 2010
- Take the "long" way way home through London and Paris
- Rest and Repatriation
- Try to restart life in time to move again
- Apartment shopping online
- Make the long and lonely drive from Salt Lake City to South Bend
- Somehow avoid major tragedy from the trailer hitch not being fully connected--the ENTIRE way
- First view of the apartment we rented online--broken walls, rotting insulation, stained carpet and major mold was a big deterrent
- Cancel contract--lose $200 deposit (honestly??)
- Homeless in Indiana
- Hotel hop, with trailer in tow, while looking for an apartment
- Gratefully avert a dicey night with either the drug cartel or a prostitute ring (we're not sure) in the Motel 6
- Finally find an apartment--sign a year contract--only to find out later that we're in undergraduate party central (I guess if you can't beat 'em...board with 'em)
- Aaron's MBA orientation
- Get a personal tour of the Notre Dame football locker room and stadium (yes, I felt a lot like Rudy--shortness and all)
- Feel really grateful for air conditioning and predictable electricity
- Bemoan an Internet connection worse than in Kenya
- Start the job hunt
- Temporary employment stint at the Office of the General Counsel on campus
- Begin my own Masters program (yes, we're crazy)
- Enjoy the calm before the storm, including camping at Warren Dunes
- Aaron starts school again
- The job hunt continues
