Word to the Wise

In echo of my previous rant:

Some social networking sites are not only bad for your productivity, but may also be bad for your financial well-being.

I just got off the phone with my mom who, earlier today, got off the phone with her mom (aka my grandma), who said she got a strange call this morning that went something like this:

G-ma:  Hello?

Strange Man:  Hi Grandma!  It's me, [insert my very own brother's name here].

G-ma: Hi, [xxx].

Strange Man:  Grandma, can you keep a secret?

G-ma:  Why?

Strange Man:  Grandma, I'm in Puerto Rico and I just got pulled over by the cops.  They say they found marijuana in the car, and they've arrested me for drug possession.  Grandma, you know I don't do marijuana!  I'm in jail and I need $3,000 to post bail.

G-ma (getting a little suspicious):  Well, why don't you call your dad?

Strange Man:  Well, we had a fight and we're not talking anymore.

G-ma:  Are you sure you're [xxx]?  You don't sound like [xxx].

Strange Man:  I know I don't, I'm sick.  I have a cold and don't sound like myself.

G-ma:  Well, what's your wife's name?  [Go Grandma!]

Strange Man:  Grandma, why are you asking me all  these questions?  I need help.  I need you to send me some money.

OK, so we all know that putting every detail about our lives out there for the world to see secures our spot in the running for identity theft.  But did we know that we might possibly be endangering our loved ones, too?

We live in a world full of a lot of sick people.  And sometimes we unknowingly fuel their twisted fires.

Just a word (or two) to the wise:

Information immunization.
